I so want to love Tavern but $40 for a seriously undercooked steak and oddly no brussel sprouts or bacon included leaves a bad taste. May try again eventually.
Very nice building, friendly staff. Lying and paying attention seem to be big issues here though. I’m a chef and my husband and I haven’t eaten meat for years. I’ve cooked many burgers, beef and veggie, and when they gave my husband a beef patty with bacon after we specifically ordered an impossible patty without bacon, I thought it was an honest mix up, until the manager came out lying saying it was in fact an impossible patty when my husband and I both know it wasn’t. As someone who lives in the Twin Cities, we are no strangers to The Tavern. Tonight, we arrived with a large group and were unsuccessful at getting seated at a nearby pre-planned restaurant. I noticed the Tavern and called to see if they could accommodate us. They were able to immediately seat us and were very attentive. Our server, whose name I didn’t catch, was top notch. Everyone enjoyed their food and drinks. Glad we were able to turn our Iowa family into fans of one of our local favorites.
The restaurant was nice. When we got there we were automatically told they were very short staffed but the restaurant and staff was amazing even with the exceeded wait. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone looking to venture out and try new places!
