We had amazing stay at the Sweet Spot! Michael was an amazing host. Very friendly and helpful. From the moment we pulled onto the property and he showed us the monkey pod tree we knew we had found a magical place. Fuddley the duck was a great neighbor and greeted us whenever we returned to the cottage. The cottage itself was tucked into the jungle, featured a very nice private porch, and it was clean and comfy all around. Very comfortable bed. My husband and I stayed at this property as volunteer exchange workers (not employees/no business affiliation), and although there were tons of issues on our end as volunteers that is not why I am leaving this review. I am leaving this review to warn guests that the host (Marlin) was going into RENTED Airbnbs while the guests where checked in, but he would wait until they were gone for the day to go into the rental homes and get various things he needed (he lives in the houses when guests aren’t there). What an enchanting find! We loved the Sweet Spot Grotto - tucked away in its lush tropical space under a magical monkey pod tree. The jungle vibes with the coquis serenading us to sleep, outdoor shower, all the available fruits, charming interior. Micky was a delightful hostess and guided us to many adventures we enjoyed - walking distance to trails, sunset views and beach access. Uncle Roberts with live music and fire-roasted pizza next door. The Grotto is an amazing place to stay right in the Puna district jungle, surrounded by lots of greenery and so much fruit!! Walkable distance to the Kehana Beach and a short drive to the hot springs at Isaac Hale park. The place was super clean, gorgeous, and the perfect little getaway from home. My best friend and I were able to have such a fun adventure with some Jesus time and experiencing the local culture. I stayed here for more than a month and loved every minute! The place has everything needed for a short or long stay, it's very comfortable, peaceful, safe, and immersed in nature. Other than the coqui frogs or an occasional mango falling on the roof it's very quiet. I was in contact with Michael (the owner) and Micky Lee (on-site property manager) quite a bit and they are both attentive, thoughtful, and welcoming.
