This place wants to be charming but it’s got a lot of work to do. The photos oversell in a big way. The exposed brick might be cute in one room but our wall just looks like it needs repair. Oh, and we paid extra for a “view” which was a nasty rooftop of the building nextdoor. I also hardly slept here because of all the noise. The pictures oversell these rooms in a big way. It needs updating. We honestly were always psyched to leave the room. It’s honestly really loud too. We got woken up at 2am by people coming back to their rooms. Location is king, but they could really do better in terms of comfort.

I thought the hotel was charming at first. There's an adjacent restaurant that offers complimentary coffee to hotel guests, along with a lovely gift shop in the same area. In fact, before booking, I had read reviews complaining about the small rooms and imperfections in the plaster. Those things didn't bother me at all. Well let me tell you, you pay $300 a night for a place and when you arrive you have to call a number to get someone to even come to the front desk, so we start out on the wrong foot there. Next, we get into our room and the AC unit is making strange noises, so I go down to alert the front desk and ask about getting moved to another room, the response was “oh are you in room 323”—- um yes we are…. I really enjoyed my two-night stay at The Stricklin Hotel. It has a great boutique feel, lots of charm, and a perfect downtown Florence location close to shops and restaurants. My room was clean and comfortable, and the staff was friendly and welcoming. I was disappointed The Boiler Room was closed for renovations, but that just gives me a good reason to come back. Overall, it is a stylish, memorable hotel with great service, and I would definitely recommend it.
