I was referred by my GP in May 2024 to access an assessment for personality disorder. I was triaged by a nurse (not a psychiatrist) and was told I would be further referred to talking therapies. I waited patiently… and waited… and waited. 9 months later after numerous bouts of suicidal ideation and visits to the GP I again reached out to my GP to find out what was happening. I put in a complaint about Dr Rahman for a number of issues. I’ll not go into detail too much, just to say that he obviously has no understanding of trauma-informed care, fails to do the person-centred approach and has the bedside manner of a cactus. An appointment I had with him was very distressing and triggering. Credit to the Stein Centre for accepting my request for a different psychiatrist though. I've been here (unfortunate) twice now and had 2 completely different "results". If your appointment is with a June Thornton, do yourself a favour, step outside and have a 60 minute chat with the nearest pigeon, it'd be more productive. (My 60 minutes with June was basically her talking about her daughter.) I don't say that as a joke either. I walked a way from here genuinely confused and more anxious. It's been 2+ months and I've had no follow-up/feedback.
I have had many personal negative experiences with the stein centre which will take far too long to discuss here. However, there was one specific incident that occurred regarding another patient which I want to address. Please note, I have discussed this with the patient and they are happy for me to raise this.
