Honestly, depends who is working. Went there two days in a row and had wildly different experiences. The first day the man working was nice friendly and would answer questions help you. Second day the lady working on 9-6-2026 was just plain rude. Asked her what a tea tasted like and her response was short, clipped and just in a frankly unkind tone told me “it tastes like tea.” No kidding. If she didn’t know she could have said so and not have been rude such as bold, light, mild, robust, sweeter…..I’ll never go back.
Staying in Bellaire on a whim and I discovered this enchanting tea and spice shop. Walked in and was immediately amazed by all the varieties of teas, sugars, and spices. The 2 staff members were so nice. One was new and the other one was more experience with their products. I asked for her recommendations on the teas and sugars and she was so gracious to help me and create me something new. I tried the Earl Grey Creme with the butterscotch creme sugar on ice. Great selections of teas, but be aware... Many contain artificial flavors. When I accidentally got one with artificial flavors, I went back in with the unopened container asking to exchange it. The employee working there was extremely condescending and rude. I will not be going here again and will inform others. I will find somewhere else for my tea needs that has better customer service for people who spend money in their stores. We are locals and spend a lot of money downtown and at local shops.
GO HERE NOW!!! Bill and Kristin are absolutely wonderful! Their store has something for everyone and they are helpful, friendly and their products are unique and delicious. My girlfriends and I stopped in while on a weekend trip and spent probably forty five minutes in the store smelling spices and drinking their delicious teas. Everything is thoughtfully made and packaged. If you need a gift, are hosting an event, or just enjoy good conversation The Spice &Tea Exchange is a must.
