I didn't know this was a Marriott hotel so I got to stay here for free using my points. It's about $300 a night from what I was told. It's right across the street from the beach. They have their own private beach area, where the chairs, umbrella, and bottled water is included. It's also one of the older hotels in Galveston going back to the early 1900s. We stayed here for three nights in May, so off season. The hotel is a local institution and is a must visit just for the hotel lobby and local history. Our room was perfectly adequate with a comfortable bed. You can't open the windows but that's probably a security feature. There was a power cut during our stay which was stressful, but the hotel was back to full swing in no time. This hotel is GORGEOUS. Beautiful interior. A lot of decor variety. Lovely restaurant. The rooms are cute. The people who work here are very nice. Some things that could be better: *The coffee bar has very limited hours. It should be open until 10pm. *The hotel store is the most useless and ridiculous hotel store I’ve ever seen.
