I would not recommend staying here at all for the price they charge. The rooms are pretty clean, but the TVs don’t work, the shower leaks all night, there is no closet, microwave or coffee maker in the rooms and the beds were not comfortable. When checking in staff was rude and acted like I was wasting their time. The town of Woodstock is WONDERFUL and the location is great, but there is no reason this hotel should cost over $300 a night for the bare minimum accomodations.
We enjoyed our comfortable stay at The Shire and relaxed at the picnic table alongside the river.
We love Woodstock, and this was our first time starting at The Shire. It was fantastic! It was so nice to meet Barb and she took great care of us. Highly recommend this hotel.
In addition to enjoying a clean, quiet room with a very nice shower, we loved the picture-perfect view! We also thought the coffee and tea selections were excellent.
Lovely clean and spacious accommodations, and charming warm New England. The Shire is conveniently located and easy to find and down behind is a lovely walking path with space for bonfires and a lovely rocky stream. Very friendly and responsive staff! Wanted to stay much longer.
