It's no wonder local newspapers are in trouble, with the way that the Seattle Times does business. I've been a subscriber for over 40 years - that's right, 40 years - and a few months ago changed to a digital only subscription. With the print subscription, you paid every 3 three months. What I was not told was that with the digital subscription you needed to be on auto pay for a monthly payment. As a result, when my three month payment had been used up, my account was cancelled. Paywall for a simulated newspaper-Nope. Subscription prices help pay printing and distribution costs of paper copies. Advertising pays for expenses, salaries, and profits. With the current business model you're not going to get my money nor my readership. There are other sources. Check with your local TV stations and successful news agencies.
