Uh oh – I've had better Thai food at a mall food court. The food was cheap, quick, and the service was good. However, the actual food was bland at best. I ordered the Eslam -Spicy Noodle with chicken, if that is what you want to call the 6 tiny pieces of white meat with no flavor they gave us. It tasted like chicken broth and the "spicy" was only a tiny plastic ramekin with hot peppers I'm assuming they wanted us to put in the dish ourselves. Really Bad Thai Food – I simply love Thai food, but the food at Saffron was the worst I've ever had. We ordered the Thai barbecue chicken, spicy beef panang, stir-fried vegetables and the shrimp Pad Thai. The supposed Thai barbecue chicken was uninspiring; it was merely roasted chicken that completely lacked seasoning. There was nothing Thai about it. Panang is my favorite curry dish. One of the best in San Diego! – Inside this simple, unpretentious restaurant at the foot of Mission Hills is some of the best Thai food in all of San Diego. The place not lavish, although there's lots of artwork displayed from the owner's husband. Nevertheless, the food is made is much care and attention. The Pad Thai is top-notch as well as the Drunken Noodles. Their barbeque Thai Chicken is the specialty of the house and highly recommended.
