Beautiful location, tragically violent neighborhood. What more can one say? Alongside Kingston's urban yuppie NYC-centripetal refugee flood, there are Mexican gangs, other gangs, frequent drive-by shootings. In this neighborhood the sound of gunfire is a nightly occurrence but everyone is in denial. Its only a matter of time before an "ordinary" (=white, affluent, recently arrived) citizen is gunned down in the crossfire. Then Kingston's real estate bubble will collapse, and badly.

I absolutely adore this place, and the owners!!! In fact, we liked it so much that we booked it for the next time we were in town while we were still there! Everything about our stay was so smooth and hassle-free... they made everything so easy. It was actually suggested to us by friends that had stayed there before and fell in love with the place. What a great weekend!! Just what the doctor ordered for a nice relaxing get-away from the city. The St. James's decor is simply put...perfect. Historic look with modern amenities with amazing attention to detail. Highly recommended!
I stayed at The Saint James on Labor Day Weekend. The photos are amazing, but you'll quickly realize they don't do it justice once you see it in person. The owners have done an amazing job with the house, it's very warm and inviting. The location is amazing, walking distance to several great restaurants and bars. I highly recommend this house if you're looking for a place to stay in Kingston.
