Emergency Room Services Review: My dog received good medical care, and Dr. Kitchens was excellent. She was clear about possible causes, treatment options, expected outcomes, and budget estimates. I felt confident in her care. Costs - you need to know this going in: Emergency veterinary care here is expensive, and payment is required at discharge. **The Good:** Dr. Kitchens and the care my dog received. I have complete confidence that my dog was taken care of medically, and I really like working with Dr. Kitchens. **The Bad:** Pretty much everything else involving the rest of the staff’s communication and their handling of the business side of things. I am extremely disappointed with our experience at the Regional Veterinary Referral Center in Springfield. Our 3-year-old Golden Retriever suddenly developed severe pain in his rear leg and, at home, had progressed to the point that he could no longer get up and stand comfortably. Before driving over, we called the hospital, explained what was happening, and were told that it was okay to bring him in. If you love your pet, I strongly recommend thinking twice before bringing them here. This was one of the most frustrating and upsetting veterinary experiences I have ever had. I brought my dog here because I believed he needed emergency medical care. We waited over six hours, paid a very expensive bill, and walked away with a misdiagnosis.
