Get directionsMax and Me I visited Springfield Emergency Vet Hospital in June of 2008. My beloved cat was in distress and in alot of pain. I called ahead and told them I was coming...they were at the door waiting for me, it was late on a Saturday night. They rushed my boy Max in the back and asked my permission to administer him pain meds. After the examination/diagnosis, a dr came out to speak to me. Unfortunately, the news was not good, her opinion was it was time to put Max down, he had suffered a blood clot and his hind legs were not ... read more
Sick Dog My dog was very ill and all of the staff there treated her like their own dog. They really went up and beyond the call of duty. They bought her a dog toy. In the mail, I received a cloth bag with a picture of my dog and the staff. They were very kind to me as well. I highly recommend this hospital. I feel my dog is alive because of their excellent care.
Saved my cat several times I am sorry the other reviewer had a bad experience with the bedside manner of the intern. Before I moved to a high-rise, my cat was indoor-outdoor and got severely hurt twice. Both times I called this hospital to let them know Iwas coming in and what the problem seemed to be, and that the cat would need to be stabilized. Both times there was an emergency vet there waiting to triage my cat. The second time, my cat could have lost his leg or died from bleeding if not for (a) the rapid and thorough em... read more
Bad experience... A couple of years ago, my husband and I had a beagle who had a rare infection. We were referred to Springfield Emergency Veterinary Hospital to see the internist on staff. While the facilities are state-of-the-art and some of the staff was great, we were very unimpressed with the internal medicine specialist. He behaved unprofessionally toward us, even though we had to have our dog put down. This is a good place to go if no other vet can help you-- it is a state of the art facility-- but I thought the vets ... read more
These folks are A#1 in my book!! My 14 month old vizsla was off his food one morning. Nothing unusual. That evening he was off his food still - VERY unusual. I took him to my regular vet (Dr. Schrinzel @ Hybla Valley). She was great, and immediately recognized that although his "vitals" were good, he was NOT his-self and recommended either Alexandria Emergency (w/ which I had BAD expererience) or Springfield Emergency. I took my baby to Springfield where I was greeted by a friendly, professional, compassionate and knowledgab... read more
Great Experience! We recently brought our sick five year old Chihuahua to SEVH this past weekend. We arrived in distress and they immediately took our dog in their lab for observation. Within five minutes they had diagnosed the problem which was life threatening. The estimated price was over $4,000. We chose to save her life and move along with the emergency surgery. It's been a week and our dog has been doing pretty good. Yes, they are expensive but the customer service, staff, and care was well worth it. Our spoiled dog wa... read more
Great Place! I have come here many times, with my animals....the staff is always caring and straightforward. They try very hard to see everyone as quickly as possible, which is hard when you are an emergency hospital... I am sorry that the person below had such a bad experience...but i do know that all of the referral practices are separate, so the internist that you saw has no ties to the emergency room or surgery dept, eye care, etc... They have a wonderful staff there, hopefully, one doctor doesn't sour your opinion on th... read more
Lacks Professionalism Last week on November 29th, 2012 my husband brought in my dog to see Dr. Rebekah Westermeyer. I scheduled the appointment because of concerns over my dog's dry skin and hair loss. I took her to see our regular vet and after diagnosing our dog with alopecia, our vet referred us to Dr. Westermeyer. My husband returned home after his visit offended. He said that the visit with the vet was fine, short, simple, and pleasant. Dr. Westermeyer informed him this was normal for her breed which is Pomeranian. As m... read more
