What a fantastic facility. I saw this gym on the YouTube show “Guest Pass” so I when I was in SLC I made sure I lifted here. Incredible equipment mix. Everything is in phenomenal shape. You can tell this gym was curated by owners who know and understand lifting and the best tools for the job. I don’t know what they charge for memberships but even if it’s 300 a month, it’s worth it. Truly a gem.

Hands down one of the most down-to-earth gym owners I’ve ever come across — and I’ve been to just about every private gym worth mentioning in Utah. What sets this place apart are the machines. Sounds simple, but I genuinely don’t have the words for how good they feel to use. The culture here is something else too — welcoming, energetic, and the kind of atmosphere that actually makes you want to show up. This one’s in a league of its own.

Edit: Following leaving this 1 star review, the owner John Nelson left me an aggressive voicemail saying karma will get me and then emailed me to say again that karma will get me and that "one day youll be a responsible grown man". Also you exaggerate what I said. I said I know youre not legally obligated to refund me, given that its the terms and conditions, but that it was disappointing. John is very well known in the equipment world and is a very reasonable person. I hope to visit soon. His attention to details and knowledge of equipment goes above and beyond. He hand picked his equipment to fit various body types and it shows with the level of selection available at his gym.

I was in Salt Lake for only a few days but wanted to make sure I kept up my workout regimen. I had originally planned to work out at one of those big-box commercial gyms, but due to some unforeseen circumstances, ended up pretty far from where I had planned. After a quick Google maps search I noticed that The Refinery was very close and highly reviewed, so I decided to change plans and check it out. Very glad that I did.
