I fainted and was unfortunately taken to this very abusive, highly abrasive and filthy as possible ER in an ambulance. They admitted me but after 6 days I was not taken upstairs. I asked for water over 90 times and received none. They only fed me a couple of times and due to hunger and not taking my regular mediction plus all the bad lighting, nasty odors, yelling and screaming and the fact that I received no care whatsoever depite being admitted, I got up and walked out! I had a truly exceptional experience at brookdale with my son today. Very professional well poised staff and it is an emergency unit I feel safe bringing my children to in the future Dr Okereke was magnificent and very well spoken. Dr Janet was amazing as well. Brooklyn come to downstate!
I’ve been coming to Brookdale my entire life and honestly I never had a good experience in that ER until today. Meeting Nurse Stephanie French felt like hitting the lotto. She is without a doubt the most caring and dedicated nurse I’ve ever seen. The ambulance wouldn’t let us go to a better hospital but the moment she walked in my mother felt safe and comfortable she even explained things better than the doctor. I came to Brookdale Emergency Room after being bitten by a dog, with visible bleeding and an open wound on my finger. I arrived around 6:45 PM and left at 8:30 PM without ever being seen by a doctor. A nurse took my vitals but refused to clean the wound, which is basic first aid — especially considering the high risk of infection and rabies from an animal bite.
