Took my visiting cousins here last weekend and ended up spending way longer than planned wandering through the old turbine hall. The guided tour around 2pm was led by a retired engineer who clearly loved the place and made the whole hydroelectric history thing genuinely interesting. The view over the canyon from the walkway outside the building alone is worth the drive out to Mission. Parking right next to the entrance was a nice bonus too, made it easy with the kids in tow.
Took the kids on a Tuesday morning and it was quiet enough that our two could actually hear the guide explain how the old turbines worked. The kids loved pressing the buttons on the interactive displays near the powerhouse floor, and the massive turbine hall itself is honestly a cool sight even for adults. Parking right outside the visitor centre made it easy to unload strollers without a big trek.
