It's the only place to get what you need
We were to take a floatplane flight from The Port at 8am this morning. The flight was grounded at Ketchikan. Sally Griffin at The Port was not only extraordinarily hospitable and welcoming but helped us pass the time until we finally learned that the flight wasn’t coming. She hooked us up with Timber Pesterfield (Equinox Air) who picked us up in 40 minutes time and got us to Ketchikan by noon. As far as I know it’s the only convenience store, post office, tackle shop and souvenir shop in Thorne Bay. If you’re in town you’ll have to go there, even if you don’t have to you still should just to get some local experience. The owner is a local fishing guide and the lures and tackle that he carries is the same equipment that he uses on his boat. I have fished with him and can tell you from personal experience that is one of the best in Thorne Bay. If he’s using the tackle then it works so you might as well pick some up.... read more
