I had dinner at this for my birthday - it was overall a very disappointing experience. The food was just not good and the service was very weird. I feel like they are just trying to lure people in with the “Michelin” mention. They are much better spots in Dublin - this is not a good choice. I usually don’t leave negative reviews - I know it’s tough to run a restaurant - but this felt like a bad tourist trap wrapped in a Michelin bow.
Got the famine soup and kidney pie. Very expensive for.. not much food. And the food was ok, not great.
We had dinner there last nigh. We ordered boxty, and was disappointing. Boxty itself was really bad, the truffle on top was overpowering. Got the bitterballen, it was quiet delicious. Famine soup and bonemarrow toast was a good combo, but must say was not much of a taste. Lamb chop with its gravy was delicious. Leo Burdock's Cod was quiet good as well. Smoked potato side was delicous. Everything was on the quiet salty side. The staff were really nice and friendly. Service and atmosphere was really good.
The Pig's Ear is one of those rare delightful restaurants where you end up wishing you had the capacity to taste everything on the menu. I was skeptical that anything exceptional could be made of such dishes as kidney pie, famine soup, shepherds pie and plate of peas, but I was quite wrong. My husband and I had dinner there twice during our stay in Dublin, and had a wonderful meal each time. Can't recommend it highly enough.
We dined here twice in a few days we loved it so much. The best traditional Irish food we have ever had. The restaurant is small. The service is friendly. Strongly recommend the Famine soup, the Plate of Peas, the Dublin Coddle, and the Tongue “n” Cheek Kidney Pudding.
The Pig’s Ear Dublin has a 4.4 star rating with 1,188 reviews.
The Pig’s Ear Dublin is closed now. It will open tomorrow at 9:00 a.m.
