My first experience at RPL was at this cabin in Eagle Harbor with Steve Sr. deer hunting. Had occasion to return several times and took a good Kodiak there with my brother. Amenities then were pretty basic but more than adequate and provided a dry, warm place out of which to hunt. I can only imagine how comfortable this new iteration of the place must be. I first ""met""Steve while on a Blacktail hunt on Kodiak Island too many years ago to even remember. I was on a self guided Blacktail hunt. I knew nothing of what I was doing nor where I was going, but I was trying (unfortunately NOT successful). The Perrins' Rainy Pass Lodge is Alaska's best kept winter secret. Known as an Iditarod checkpoint, this backcountry lodge offers more than imagined.
