The food was okay but the service could use some improvements. My husband and I have given The Pelican Reef to many chances over the years. Every time we say we'll it's been a while maybe it will be better this time. It's always a disappointment.
I've eaten at The Pelican Reef many times over the years, always enjoyed the food but not so much this past visit. I had the seafood platter, two problems, first Talapia does not belong on a seafood platter, especially on a gulf coast restaurant, why not put a local species fish on the platter, not a farm raised fish. Second, the crab claws were tough, maybe way over cooked, and they had little flavor. My wife had sautéed crab claws, they too were tough. We went in late Saturday! 9 minutes before the restaurant closed. We sat at the bar in the Landing and had drinks and a Steak Poboy! The steak was tender and cooked to perfection. The drinks were perfect and the bar tenders friendly. Perfect ending to a great night!!!
