About

The tradition of Irish hospitality dates back to medieval times. Grace O'Malley, The Pirate Queen, was refused at The Castle of Howth, She took offense and kidnapped the heir to the estate. She would only give him back if, from then on, a spare plate be laid at every meal. Brehon Law demanded that every village have a Parlour ready for passing travelers so that they may be shown hospitality. In keeping with tradition, there's always a place for you at The Parlour.

Good food bad bartenders – I go there all the time, the food is really good but the bartenders are moody and they don't give any buybacks even if you spent 100 bucks or more in drinks, bar people should never come here and they are not friendly at all

Fantastic Pub!! – I have nothing but GREAT Things to say about my experience at The Parlour!! My girlfriends and I went to grab a couple drinks and karaoke a few Friday nights ago and we had an absolute blast!! We started dinking mixed drinks, which were reasonably priced for NYC standards, and after about 3 drinks, we startred karaoking---well, my goodness---we literally spent the rest of our night at The Parlour and never even made it to the other places we had planned to go!! I mean, why leave when we were having such a great time!! We even ended up getting the munchiies after all the drinking and singing and ordered some great bar food--exactly what we needed!! The food was delicious--right in line with the rest of the evening. We already have plans to go back in a few weeks!! Oh yea---did I mention that many of the waiters had the most amazing Irish accents--and were cute, too!! What more can a bunch of girls ask for.....!!!

awesome Upper West Side restaurant / bar – My husband and i have lived on the Upper West Side for about a year and just now discovered its best kept secret--The Parlour!! It is located off of Brooadway on 86th Street (the SW side) and boy are we glad we stopped in to grab a bite to eat!! First of all, I am a HUGE U2 fan, and all the waiters/waitresses were Irish and I got to tell them my story of meeting Bono, which always makes a delightful experience for me! Aside from that, though, the service was incredible--the entire staff was super friendly and accommodating. The food was also delicious. I had a chopped sirloin burger w fries and my husband had the shepherds pie--both delicious!! For dessert, we split an apple pie a la mode (but I ate most of it--lol) because my husband was enjoying his Samuel Adams!!! Definitely come by the Parlour and enjoy this totally Irish bar!!

Even SEVEN Eleven is better – It's a "warm" place (I mean the beer is warm), the fries are cold, but the english waiter is a case...someone needs to calm this guy down...he gets upset every time you ask something and role his eyes on you.... You wouldn't see me there in the next 15-60 years.... Ohhh, all of a sudden Duane Reade looks like heaven Haaaa?

A roomy Upper West Side roadhouse where the Guinness flows. – The Scene With its exposed brick walls, multiple televisions and ultra-dim lighting, the Parlour is just like every other Irish pub on the Upper West Side save for one thing, its spaciousness. The beer joint, which boasts two bars, a downstairs dance floor, and a separate dining room, is a welcome respite for city folk accustomed to overstuffed spaces--this is the rare bar where you can breathe. The Draw Twenty-something preppie types come here to chow down on typical Irish fare, such as shepherd's pie and homemade beef stew, before heading off to the dance floor where a soundtrack of '80s and '90s rock mingles with modern Top 40 singles. Those who don't dance can wait for the one pool table to open up, but it might be wiser to give up and order one of the bar's 10 beers on tap, including Stella Artois, Guinness and Bass.

Great Karoake – Went with friends and even some parents around and had a great karoake and beer night! Highly recommended to go for a fun night dressed up, dressed down and sing the night away (bad voices welcome) in an unprententious bar!

Good burgers, overpriced beer. – The burgers at the Parlour are excellent. However, this is overshadowed by two things. First, the service is extremely spotty. Second, their pint beer prices are obscene. $5.75 for a Harp? Maybe. $5.75 for a Coors Light? Ridiculous. Their excuse? "All our draft beers are the same price." That's a sad excuse.

Never Ate The Food – But hung out at the many bars (they have three). Interesting crowd, decent time, affordable. It's too bad it's all the way on the UWS...

Alanna...Nuff Said – The Parlour pours one of the best Guinness' in the city. If that weren't enough, they are served by the beautiful and vivacious Alanna. You must meet her. Sure it gets crowded on weekends and during Happy Hour, but what place worth going to doesn't? If the crowds bother you, go on a weeknight. The Parlour puts a lot of those other so-called "Irish Pubs" to shame.
