I've had to give this so.e thought. I understand Sointula is a bit off the beaten path, however, all in at $400 a night, hmmm. Overall the stay was ok, the suite had everything i needed. Check in was simple and timed nicely w the ferry. Now, I wasn't expecting the Fairmont, despite the seasonal Fairmont price, but, the price did leave me questioning not going w the air bnb option. Drove up late from Vancouver got to the hotel without eating all day, the host AJ said they had leftover turkey soup from thanksgiving and brought a giant bowl to our room, was blown away with the kindness and how good the soup was and then AJ came back 20 min later with homade dessert. Thank you so much AJ you are awesome and the hotel was lovely beautiful view of the ocean

We needed a place last minute over the August long weekend and stumbled upon Malcolm Island and the Oceanfront Hotel. When we first arrived at the hotel I wasn’t sure what to think as it is eclectic and dated as well as hosts long term renters, a communal kitchen, a pub and some makeshift shops.
