The oysters were amazing, the seafood chowder was delicious, and the Brazilian waitress was lovely. Unfortunately, the seafood hotpot wasn’t hot, the shrimp pil pil was bland and overloaded with butter, and the seafood tacos were mostly sauce with a tiny piece of fish — completely unsatisfying. The restaurant feels outdated for such a beautiful location in Howth, and the main waitress was extremely rude. Waited a very long time for a table with a booking even though there was many seats available Service was horrible, extremely long wait times for everything, over an hour wait between starters and mains for just 2 people No tap water was available Optional 10% tip added to the bill, need to ask to have it removed.
Two neighboring restaurants were fully booked, so we turned our attention to the Oar House. The food was good, not exactly exceptional, but worth tasting. Fish pie was very good (note, that Irish fish pie has no dough). The small portion of scallops is actually very small, just three pieces of the shellfish meat, although they were cooked pretty good and the sauce was delicious. The restaurant ist rather on the louder side.
