As a parent of a UMD student, this was an absolutely horrible experience. Between Asset Living delivering an apartment that smelled like cigarette smoke on move in day, to having my account sent to collections post move-out over a $200 bill that we were NEVER notified of is unacceptable. After our son moved out, to our surprise, we received a letter from a collections agency. I moved to The Nine only 3 weeks ago and I am already disappointed. The exhaust fan of my bathroom does not work and, since the bathroom is not equipped with windows, I am forced to keep the door open towards the common area in order to promote air recirculation while taking the shower, thus jeopardizing my privacy rights. The most outrageous thing is that I presented a maintenance request through the online portal as early as I got here, but still after 3 weeks they haven't done anything to repair the fan. The price for the apartment is way too high and the rooms are really small. You can find something way better elsewhere. The elevator are constantly not working and if you live on a high floor it’s an inconvenience. Maintenance has no sense of urgency my ac was down during an awful heatwave and it took them 3 days to come fix it.
