Dinner for 4 people,excellent staff and service ,very $$$$$$.
Good: Service, drinks, tartare, foie gras and atmosphere. Bad: Food generally lacked taste. The only dish with some flavor was the chicken dish (and the items mentioned above). The cod and ravioli were tasteless. Ugly: The rib eye for two ($150) was a disaster. The fatty pieces totally outnumbered the pieces with actual meat. The idea that two adult men could be satisfied by this offering was ridiculous.
We very much enjoyed our experience at The Nicolett. The restaurant staff were very friendly and had helpful suggestions. Our favorite item on the menu was the cauliflower pasta. My wife was particularly happy that the dish used a combination of cheeses instead of heavy cream which is more accommodating to those with a degree of lactose intolerance. My fiancé and I came here for an anniversary dinner and were honestly underwhelmed. Our server came across as a bit passive-aggressive when we ordered and seemed annoyed that we didn’t choose the full three-course meal. We tried the ravioli, which didn’t live up to the rave reviews, and the pozole, which was overly sour. The server offered to box up the pozole, and we agreed, but it never made it back to the table.
