I was 86'd at this bar because a man tried to fight me. I calmly paid my tab and left, only to find out the brilliant staff decided to permanently ban me for the crime of being violently threatened. The man who threatened me and tried to corner me in the bar as I left was only 86'd for two weeks, while I got a permanent ban. It sucks not being able to go see my friends when they play live music there. The Monte is one of the few bars in Billings who will not tolerate rude/racist/homophobic people. As a queer person, I feel very safe there and the people that frequent are so kind and fun! I have been going to the monte for over 5 years! They host a great amount of events nextdoor including comedy on Thursdays, Trivia, Drag Shows, and more! LGBTQ+ friendly and great vibes. The Monty is an icon in downtown and the staff and owners here are excellent people. They really are community oriented and they are accepting of all individuals and they really have a heart of gold and good values and I've seen them look out for everyone even their patrons who may or may not be getting to that line that we all get to sometimes on some nights but they're very good about checking in with people and calling cabs when necessary.
