Although this is only a start, avoid Essex properties. They discriminate and retaliate against employees and residents. I am a gay man, who Essex employed and housed until they fired me for reporting abuse. They only lied to cover their tracks. Extremely disappointed with the property management. The construction noise has been ongoing for months and starts as early as 7:30 AM far earlier than the posted hours of 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Despite multiple complaints, the issue remains unresolved. What's worse, residents are being asked to pay a transfer fee just to escape the noise caused by their own construction. The buildings are way too old, sound proof too terrble if not non-existent e.g. neighbor shutting their doors/windows can be easily heard with ear plugs on at 5 am, all kinds of noises early morning late night. I would imagine the units facing Mathilda will have very serious traffic noise issue. I even don’t want to put one star…. This has truly been an extremely bad rental experience, and I absolutely do not recommend this community. I haven’t even rented for a full year, and just this month alone, I’ve received four notices about hot water outages—some even lasted overnight. This has caused significant inconvenience for tenants. On top of that, there was a break-in at a neighbor’s unit on April 17, which raises serious concerns about safety in this place. The staff is also very helpful in resolving any apartment maintenance issues, especially those related to common house areas. Recently, I lost my keys for the gym and mailbox. Despite a detailed and frantic search, we couldn't find them. I submitted a request through the app, reporting the lost keys. The next day, Maria Magana from the staff team arrived with the key I had lost. That truly made my day, as the keychain was special to me.
