The recently completed Taṣogida Ki center here is a place that blends the astronomical science with the culture of the Tohono O’odham tribe and people. One of the solar telescope’s was functional during my visit. The theater show a quality video of the history of Kitt Peak while the “sphere theater” is a unique way to see projections. I would love to see the funds to bring back the main solar telescope’s projection.
Science rules!
It was a great motorcycle ride up the mountain 12 miles... dropping 20°. Smaller than we thought it would be, but it was next to see. We didn't take the tour, but here are a few pictures.
Incredible instrument. I hope they secure funding to restore to operational condition.
