We visit at least two weekends per month during horseback riding season and having visited several riding trails in Illinois we much prefer McCully. For a donation we experience a lot of pleasure in this beautiful site and feel it is maintained better than any state site by far. After ten years if trailering our horses here and riding the equestrian trails we have chosen this as our favorite riding experience in Illinois. Each season brings new views and experiences.
Mccully Heritage Project is one of our family's favorite weekend getaways. We live in Quincy- about an hour away from here. But when we venture out to camp with our 3 kids and 2 dogs we are pretty picky about where we stay. We want somewhere secluded and private- where our family can run and explore without worrying about other campers. The "Watkins Place Cabin" is perfect for us. Hidden gem
Very neat little campground and nature preserve. Well maintained with on site restrooms and also a small playground for children.
