Having stayed in many 4 and 5 star hotels, I have realistic expectations when paying $500-$600 a night. One should expect working air conditioning (which was not the case), prompt and courteous response to questions and concerns (which was not the case), and honesty (again, not the case). In essence, mistakes happen, but how one responds to the mistakes is what matters. When something breaks and you cannot fix it, take ownership and don't gaslight the customer. My great-grandfather, grandfather, and father all lived in Greenville in the late 1800's-early 1900's. They worked the railroads. I wish they would have had the opportunity to stay at this lodge. Beautiful grounds, huge room with deck overlooking the grounds and the lake. The room showed an attention to detail that I've not seen before and we have travelled.
