I moved my uncle here when he found out he was terminally ill. The facility is beautiful, the staff friendly & helpful, and the food good. The other residents were friendly & welcoming. Better yet, when he needed more care, staff worked with me to move him to skilled nursing within 24 hours. Shout out to staff member Andria Lyles who made us feel like family and always went out of her way to help us when we needed it - even when she wasn't working and even when she was away on vacation! We have been caring for my mom with memory issues at home for the last 18 months. She stayed at Balfour in Louisville for two weeks for respite care while we went on a hiking trip in the mountains. She was apprehensive about going to "a home"...but after 1 day there she loved it. When we picked her up she said it was "lovely" , great people both the staff and other residents . I cannot reccomend this place enough. They tend to every need and keep the patient center in all of their decisions. They're very welcoming to families and arrange special days for families to spend quality time with their loved ones. The happy hours are some of my best memories with my Dad. The music is soothing l, and it's a fun time for residents to relax and enjoy themselves. They work hard to develop activities to engage the residents and to make Balfour truly "home."
