Host was not accommodating. I stayed with a group of friends and left my glasses. The “cleaning team” did not find them under the bed (but the guest staying after did) and he refused to mail them back. Beware anything associated with New Hampshire Retreats as they do not hire sufficient cleaning teams and the photos DO NOT show the true environment you will be staying in. I believe this has been sold and hoping the new owner fixes the dangerous aspects of this home.
The Lodge is truly a special place. A diamond in the rough because it is currently a work in progress (just exterior and basement and as of this post- plans are underway), but more diamond than rough. The areas you stay inside are recently done over, clean and very comfortable- most of all the beds. There is a full kitchen with appliances and plates, etc. Two bathrooms are recently updated and very clean and stocked with incidentals and towels. Very spacious house with tons of room for your family vacation. Historic home with a ton of rustic charm to appreciate! The house is 6 feet from the river with stunning views! Can't wait to return!
Lots of character, cosy and old fashioned. The bubbling brook alongside completes the feeling.
The place was rather dirty when we showed up. There was a large quantity of cobwebs both inside the house as well as on all of the windows making what could be a beautiful view unsettling. When the property owner was contacted he dismissed the concern as being part of being by a river. This place has a lot of potential if it was well-maintained but it’s current state it is not worth the $550, plus fees, a night being charged.
