The Liriodendron is a historic home and estate of Dr. Howard Kelly and his wife Laetitia. Dr. Kelly was a respected surgeon and one of the four founding physicians of the Johns Hopkins Medical College. Purchased in the 1890s, originally 196 acres on the western edge of the town of Bel Air, the property now consists of approximately 100 acres. Beautiful area. There is a lovely trail here that I didn't have the chance yo enjoy. I will definitely go back.
The administrators & people are unfriendly, off-hand, & a better class than you. The building & outside are kept to a mediocre standard. Go to Hampton House to see what can be done for a restored mansion in MD. There is no elevator for impaired mobility to get to where the public exhibits are held. The mgt of the facility is often remote and condescending. This has not felt a friendly place.
Absolutely beautiful! The new historic exhibit is really informative. The architecture is stunning and the natural setting is not over-manicured. Great place to visit during Open House or for a concert or exhibit. Run by a non-profit, so make a donation! Friendly staff and romantic setting for a wedding. Definitely a hidden (and affordable) gem!
