I never understood what medical gaslighting was until I met her the first time and the last time.
I was referred to see Dr. Famuyide at the Assiniboine Clinic, and unfortunately my experience was extremely disappointing. During my appointment, she inserted my IUD incorrectly, which led to complications and pain in the days that followed. I had to return to the clinic to have it corrected. Even during the second visit, there was no apology or acknowledgment of the mistake. Instead, she came across as rushed and rough throughout the procedure. Dr. F gets a “F”…and that’s not for being the friendliest. Terrible attitude. Acts like she doesn’t care. So strange when her practise is so specialized. Maybe she’d fair better in family medicine *shrugs*
I just had my procedure appointment with Dr. Famuyide so my second appointment with her. I had a lot of anxiety going into the appointment based on past experiences with other doctors years ago but had some hope because I knew her approach was different (based on what was on the clinic's website and my consult with her.) I wanted to share my experience at this women's clinic. While the clinic promotes a welcoming and judgment free environment, unfortunately, my personal experience did not align with that. I found Dr. Famuyide to be lacking in empathy, made me feel rushed during my appointment. It’s important for patients to feel heard and supported, especially in sensitive health visits.
