The chess set looks great and was well packaged. The pieces are nicely made and feel good to play with. Customer service was responsive and helpful. Overall, a very good experience. Would buy again from them.
Horrible experience. Tried to cancel my item the same day of purchase and got no response until the next day after it had shipped. Item doesn't app on the playstore to connect even though the product comes with a link to one and doesn't specify it no longer works. And I'm being made to pay for the shipping back. Worst ordering experience of my life.
I had earlier posted a negative comment about the House of Staunton, that their service was poor, as they had not responded to my complaints about the SquareOff Pro "smart" chess sets. After my negative reviews on Google, Shawn, the company's President, contacted me and made tremendous efforts to resolve the issues. I am pleased to say that he has finally refunded my money. I wonder why the Customer Service at House of Staunton - who manage the chess.com shop - is so poor; even 3 weeks after my complaint about the SquareOff Pro that they sold me, they have yet to reply. I bought two sets at over US$400, and it has turned out to be useless (I can't get any pairing on chess.com, and on the occasional opportunity that I get on lichess.org, the SquareOff app behaves erratically - making mistakes in how my moves are recorded, not communicating my moves to chess.com or my opponent's moves to me, or s... read more
