I beautiful historic hotel in a great location. The rooms were clean and nice, while the afternoon tea was amazing. I thought the price was very reasonable.
After many( almost 40 years) experiences at the Windsor, regrettably this last experience was our last. So disappointing. The establishment has been consistently wonderful. Brekky no longer a great buffet, now a rigidly enforced ala Carte. Menu offers “ eggs your style” I asked for a tomato omelette. Told “ not on menu”. One of the “ main courses is toast and Vegemite. Be transported back in time when you step into The Hotel Windsor. It feels like stepping into a historical monument of Melbourne, with classy architecture yet a cozy atmosphere, not to mention it is extremely well-kept and clean. All the staff we interacted with were happy, friendly, ready to be of service or assistance, and very accomodating. I booked a stay at The Hotel Windsor Melbourne for a family member, and the check-in experience was very disappointing. The receptionist, Mai, was unhelpful and dismissive, both in person with my family member and with me over the phone. There was confusion on her end, around the payment for the stay, despite the details being provided clearly at the time of booking, by me. She’s getting on in age, but the Windsor is still a beautiful place to stay. The room temperature was perfect. Bed was exquisite and although looking a bit older it’s very opulent.
