My mom has been at Heritage exactly one week. It took months to move her from an assisted living in another state due to one medical issue after another. Mary the executive director worked with me for months. Before mom arrived Mary was literally under the adjustable bed I bought trying to make it work! She knows every resident and is always kind and helpful. Like Mary , all of the staff from the housekeepers, med techs, and restaurant staff are kind and caring. I stayed for one month and this was my third visit for a respite stay. I like the food, especially the salmon, catfish, lasagna, omlettes, pancakes, and other food. I had a studio apartment on the first floor and it was very quiet. Heritage sits on the Halifax River which is very picturesque with beautiful sunsets.
We commend the whole staff at Heritage Waterside for taking great care of our friend who became a resident last August. Of particular note is Erika, a kind Med-Tech, who ensures our friend gets up, walks, has his meals, and is very positive with him. I’m certain she is this way with all the other residents she serves.
As someone who works in healthcare, I realize the care you receive is only as good as the people who provide that care. The people Heritage Waterside are exceptional. The property is clean and beautiful, but it’s the people that truly make it what it is. When we needed to find a place for our father my family saw many places that left us feeling the spectrum from depressed to reasonably comfortable. Live here! My 91 year old parents say they are going home when they are out of the house. This after living for 46 years in their house. Enough said? (They moved here May 2025.) I had a job finding senior housing so I know Heritage is exemplary. And Heritage has the safety of independent living, assisted living and memory care so we have the reassurance that our mom can stay there if her forgetfulness gets to be too difficult.
