I am deeply disappointed with this company. No local representative (we are in Wellington). Not enough staff to cover if a carer is away. They promise a lot and deliver little. We went for an agency because we wanted the assurance of cover week to week. Didn't happen.

The good companion have been a great and reliable introduction to my Dad, allowing my mum to have a bit of time off each week. Pam has been excellent and talked me through the process very clearly. If they can only sort out how they do accounts, and follow up to questions of their admin team, then they would be a great all round company.

We unexpectedly needed overnight home care after an older relative was released from hospital. Stephanie was friendly and helpful and the people who came were competent, professional, and connected well with the client and their spouse. It wasn't cheap, but compared to the few visits under the public system, it was a much more reliable and competent service. (Not that I can really blame the criminally underfunded public health system.)

I took great care in choosing suitable at home support for my elderly mother. I am so glad I found the Good Companion as they have made a huge difference to my mother. Over the time we have used their service her mobility and her short-term memory have declined, and having such kind and professional carers has been wonderful. I am very grateful for all they do.
