Had Sunday lunch and also a meal midweek, both were very good and well presented. Service was great and you are not rushed.
Possibly the worst Sunday lunch I’ve ever had — a very disappointing experience. We booked an early Sunday lunch at the Golden Lion, from 12 noon until 1.30pm. It was raining heavily when we arrived, but we weren’t allowed inside until exactly 12, so by the time we were seated it was about 12.15. So this is a bar/restaurant more than a hotel and this should be kept in mind when reviewing the rooms. Most importantly they are clean. For me, after clean comes quiet. I would rate the noise factor as acceptable. You can hear people in the room next to you pretty clearly but thankfully everyone seems to settle in by 2200 so sleep works well.
