We couldn’t be happier with our experience at The Goddard School Decatur! The teachers are so warm, attentive, and truly invested in each child’s growth. One of the teachers in our child’s classroom, Ms. C, has been phenomenal—so patient and nurturing, and really helped with the transition into daycare. We had a wonderful first year at Goddard, but unfortunately, things took a turn during our second year, leading us to conclude it was no longer the right fit for our family. There was significant teacher turnover — my child had 4 to 5 different teachers within just a few months. During the potty training stage, my son was repeatedly shamed, to the extent that even other staff members privately voiced their concerns to me about the behavior of the teacher involved. The integrity of the owner/administration is questionable. My daughter was repeatedly injured by a child at this school. I understand that children play rough in Pre-K but my child was attacked in the face repeatedly by the same child and he suffered no injuries from her. A protocol was put in place that specifically stated they would be kept separate from each other and this agreement was breached twice. My child was hit and bitten repeatedly by the same child on more than four occasions—this same child also harmed other children. Although plans were put in place, the staff and administration failed to properly implement them, allowing these incidents to continue. As a result, my child now has a scar on her face that she will have forever, thanks to a child at this school who has harmed others as well.
