First and foremost, Jay Dee and his and his staff are all rock-solid guys--men to ride the river with, as the Texas oldtimers used to say. I had a rough-cut black walnut mantel of deep family provenance that needed to be sanded and waxed prior to installation. Jay Dee invited me out to work it alongside him, free of charge. Over the course of a singular afternoon, we turned my heirloom into a beautiful home furnishing, and I had the privilege of getting to know Jay Dee and his guys.
