I'll admit, before we did our Kimberley trip, I did not realise the aura that surrounds the Gibb River Road. We were part of a tour group, so in a large 4WD vehicle it was rough but doable. The road is corrugated, the washouts and floodways are rough, there is a LOT of red dust, and of course, being Oz, the distances are vast. Despite all that, back in Brissy, I am thinking I would like to do it again.
I travelled on this road 20 odd years ago.. It was abysmal back then, no idea if its changed much now.. I was with a friend we were both on BMW adventure motorbikes... Kilometres of dusty corrugated roads nearly vibrated the fillings out of my teeth.
