Update: After waiting 2 days, Lindsay from the Gardens funeral home just called me admitting they dropped the ball and that my dads remains weren’t stuck in traffic like we were told. She said it was because we changed the date (nearly 2 weeks before) and it became a transportation issue. (They were the ones who set the date with the VA). She sounded accusatory and blaming me. The Gardens of Boca Raton were nearly 1½ hrs late in bringing my fathers casket to his military funeral on May 30, 2023. There is no excuse to put my father’s remains, his wife, children, grandchildren, friends, Honor Guard, Patriot Guard Riders, and military personnel through this. I had been told that my dad was at a morgue in the same town as the National Cemetery.
