I've been a member of The Garage for the last couple of years and have seen this community flourish from a gritty place that you can come get your work done into a space that is welcoming to every type of strong person that comes through their doors. This gym will always hold a special place for me and I am so grateful for the people and the process TGC has brought to my life!
They play loud music and close the street about every other month with no notice to the neighbors. Also it’s 7-8am so they are also not mindful about the people surrounding them.
Excellent power flow class - and a beautiful space. I will be back!
The Garage Chicago is so anti-community, it was clearly born and bred in a dystopian suburb of other narrow-minded souls. They pride themselves on being visibly and audibly accessible (clear glass garage style doors showing off high-quality workout equipment and facilities, blaring loud music for the block to hear at early hours, yelling weird chants, running up and down the streets and sidewalks) WHILE remaining financially and socially inaccessible to most or many in and around the community. I wouldn’t recommend this place. Ever. This place has fast paced, high intensity, circuit workouts. Their instructors push individuals past their capacity with little regard to client boundaries or proper form, rather emphasizing how much weight you can add and speed. This led to a significant and costly injury for me when I came (once) that I still struggle with years later.
