I picked up a bartender shift at The Gallery/Kill Devil for a wedding Spring 2025. It was the 2nd worst event I've ever worked. First, no one mentioned ice machine was broken, the lid fell and cut up my face. Mgr saw and didn't care, told me to take a few minutes to clean up. Then, I was stuck between 2 hostile, and I suspect inebriated, female bartenders, one of which physically blocked me from leaving the bar because I asked what to expect (if it was tip pooling) and she thought I didn't have a right to ask questions. Signed up to attend Beto O'rourk's town hall meeting. However, after arriving at 6 pm and standing in line for 30 minutes we were turned away due to the event being at capacity. Wasted time, gas, and money for parking. Every patron who were not admitted in should be reimbursed.
Had a very nice evening this past Friday at the Gallery’s adjacent venue, Kill Devil Club. We were served a five course meal expertly paired with wine and bubbles. They had a chef and a sommelier who explained the inspiration behind each dish and pairing. However, I would have never thought to go had it not been for the head bartender, Mike, who is one of my favorite bartenders in the city. My wife and I had a great experience attending a Dinner and Wine pairing event at Kill Devil Club last night. The dinner was amazing and the wine pairings described at each course by Julia was informative and fun. The ambiance of this Club and the event is one we are still talking about this morning. It was a wonderful social experience and the GM, Tori, and the staff really gave special attention to all in attendance. I hope there are more of these events. Food, wine, music in a dinner club atmosphere...we highly recommend!
