The good: Plenty of seating. Spacious restaurant. Cute neighborhood. Attentive service. Art and deco to look at on the walls. The mids: Our food was good-nothing to write home about, but good. A little skimpy on the ingredients for the price you pay. My spicy noodle dish was basically spicy spaghetti with small tofu triangles, several jalepenos slices and pineapple cubes, lots of green peas and a couple basil leaves. I ordered the Pad Khea Mao... if you want stick straight, hard as rock noodles...this is the place to go! Horrible.
We walked in and it smelled musky/sewage-y. But I've been coming here for 20 years so I know it's fine but they should get whatever was happening under control. Anyhow, I love their soups, I find them rich & delicious. I regularly get the Tom Kha Kai and one of the curry soups. Not this last time but I've also had the Pad Thai, Satay, cucumber salad, Cashew Stir Fry and others. I always find them to be good and consistent. New owners this is now called the Elephant Terrible sickening food it gave us both watery urgent diarrhea
The Elephant Thai is an excellent lunch spot when you are in Glen Ellyn. My partner and I were met by the friendly staff and were seated immediately. The chicken satay appetizer was just what we needed before we tucked into our entrees, chicken pad siew and noodles on fire. They were absolutely delicious! Another case of happy-belly achieved!
