I made an appointment with The Dope Braid Shop and was required to leave a $25 deposit. Based on the business name and listing, I expected the appointment to be at a professional salon location. On the day of my appointment, Ms China Doughty sent an address that was not listed under the business and turned out to be her personal home. I’m on the brink of tears writing this, probably just pregnancy hormones, but I’ve never had a good natural/Black hair experience in Wilmington, to be truthful, and have lived here for 10+ years. China was very unprofessional and inconsiderate of my time during the booking process. I booked an appointment with her via her online scheduling app 1 month ago and 12 hrs prior to showing up for the appointment she informed me of a scheduling conflict with another client. She failed to take any accountability, offer accommodations, or offer reasonable rescheduling times. She also displayed a complete lack of awareness for the own work schedule.
