Traveling in the UP of Michigan with a dog is incredibly difficult if you plan on eating out. But if you are in Houghton then definitely stop at the Den for a great meal and enjoy it with your dog. After getting turned away by numerous breweries that don’t even sell food and wouldn’t even let her on their patio…we were thrilled to discover this dog-friendly restaurant in downtown Houghton. Service extremely long wait. Food arrived cold after an hour wait. Restaurant was empty. We were told the kitchen was short staffed. Will not return.
If you come to Houghton, you have to stop here! There’s a great view of an iconic bridge, excellent food, and stellar service to enjoy.
I had to wait 10-15 minutes to get a seat, but it was worth it. I had a great meal here! I could easily tell that my waitress wanted me to have a top-notch experience. I ordered the meatloaf with mashed potatoes and seasonal vegetables, and all of it was fantastic! The meatloaf was hearty with hints of bacon, and it was wood fired, which gave it a unique flavor. Great food and a very nice view of the canal from the patio. The duck breast was delicious and cooked exactly how I wanted it, pink and juicy. Paired well with a glass of Pinot noir. The salad was okay but could be a little more creatively composed and presented
