My wife and I plan to return from Arizona close to the old home place (at least in the same square mile as the old family farmhouse.) I'd been looking at downsizing for a couple of years, but hadn't been able to convince my husband it was time to move. In February 2025, he decided it was getting hard to get up and down the stairs in our multi-level home. We went to Harvest Ridge first and viewed a former model that was on the market. We moved into our new home, November 2023. Our open floor plan allows for an excellent home for senior living without any steps and with lots of storage. We were looking for an active senior community. We are pleased with the amenities that are offered. The friendly neighbors make living here very enjoyable. My wife and I are in the process of building a new home at Epcon’s Harvest Ridge in Ankeny. It will probably be completed in late summer of 2026. We are downsizing and moving to Ankeny which has everything we need to retire. We have lived in the country for the last 30 years in a ranch with a walkout basement on 2.6 acres of land. A few years ago we decided to downsize... but we overdid it by moving to a beautiful but too small condo building.
