We recently stayed at Captain’s Lodge at The Country Place on the Shenandoah River as part of a group of five families with young children, and unfortunately our experience was very disappointing. The property appeared to have several serious maintenance and cleanliness issues. We found mold in the downstairs area, a leaking ceiling, cracked deck railings, and a dirty oven. Our group of 5 families with small kids was shocked by how disgusting, unsafe, and poorly maintained this rental was. The listing was extremely misleading. The house was filthy, with visible Black mold, thick dust, mice droppings, and even a mouse during our stay. Almost everything felt like a health hazard. Many kitchen items looked dirty before use, and most pots and pans were unusable. Several amenities were broken, including the jacuzzi, microwave, and pool table equipment. Captain's Lodge 15 Acres w/300 Meters Of Private Shenandoah Riverfront property Our group of 15 was excited for this stay over the Memorial Day weekend, but the property was in unacceptable condition from the moment we arrived. Our group of 15 expected a clean and safe stay, but instead walked into a property full of health and safety issues. We opted for the River front Campsites and they were fantastic.. great outdoors.. Easy access to the River and excellent accommodations. Gail and Ben were great hosts, they have Glamp sites and Rooms as well
