Stayed at constance for last two years, it wasn't available so tried the Whitlock. What a disappointment, the place is run down, the front desk staff was ambivalent and couldn't be bothered to look up from their phones to assist, and when you did get their ttention, they didn't know anything, and we unhelpful. That's on the owners to hire the right staff not on them. I paid $750 a night, I could have stayed at NYC Park Plaza for that amount. You can't beat The Constance for charm and location. The house is beautiful, the rooms are lovely, you can walk to anything in Lenox and it's a short drive to many other attractions. Breakfast is just fine -- but be sure to take advantage of the porches and the elegant living room!
If you are thinking about a stay at the Whitlock…think again. It needs a thorough cleaning. The hallways, stairways and in particular our room need attention from housekeeping. The carpets are messy and linty and the baseboards and furniture need dusting. The bathroom had hair behind the toilet and the dispensers in the shower for shampoo, conditioner and soap were mildewed. But the icing on the cake was finding an eaten chicken wing under the dresser in the bedroom. And this was after we asked housekeeping to re-vacuum the ... read more
The Whitlock has great potential to become a beautiful hotel. It is however in need of capital to bring it up to standard. Carpets are worn, rust on the toilet holder and vents, very poor caulking around bathroom sink and base and the rooms are very sparsely decorated making them feel cold and dated. The public areas could be so much more welcoming but are dated and in poor condition. Wishing you best of luck!
I had a wonderful time with my fiancée! The room was charming. The inn was perfectly located, and Logan the concierge was incredibly helpful and kind. Give that man a raise! I would recommend this inn to anyone.
